Shi Ho Theory

Cool Osu!

Lets study Shi ho Kata's concept. These Kata's were formulated by Saiko Shihan Yasuhiko Oyama. There are five of these Kata's. They are primarily offensive in nature except number three, but Soshu Shigeru Oyama's concept of " A Good Block is a Good Attack, and Good Attack is a Good Block!" Shiho = 4 sides. Front, right, left, back moves. There are variations of Shiho formulas 12-7-4 movement counts, in other words Shiho can be done no count, done in seven moves and completed in four moves count.

Shi Ho is based on excellent kamae, quick movement, speed, and the concept of multiple attackers. This is were a striker versus a grappler differ, with due respect. We understand the one punch knock out, with multiple attackers you cannot be tied up on the ground and get beaten to a pulp, period. I want to emphasize something to you. These Kata's as with any Kata need intensity, explosiveness, such as Kumite No Kata Tsuki Uke.

Be sure you understand Morote-No-Kame, Kihon-No-Kamae and Kai-Shu-No-Kame, in doing Shi Ho kata Kihon-No-Kame is required, posture, weight, gaze, hand position, knees bent, shoulders protect jaw, fist facing to your opponent. When I do the Shi Ho its with explosive intensity, still in a relaxed state to knock out my opponent with either one strike or several. I pivot quickly, low center release my power as I need to move on to my next opponent. Don't rush it, react with cortical response time no thought. Simple, but genius in keeping with the concept KISS
