There are 2 different ways to execute thrust techniques:
1.) Kata Te Tsuki - Hold both ends of the nunchaku in one hand.
2.) Moro Te Tsuki - Hold one end of the nunchaku in each hand.
The most basic way to thrust with the nunchaku is to hold then in Hon Mochi position and
thrust the bottom end of one side at the target.
There are
other directions you can thrust
the nunchaku (the terms apply to both Kata Te
and Moro Te Tsuki):
1.) Otoshi Zuki - Strike in an up-down direction.
2.) Shomen Zuki - Thrust straight out in front of you with the top of the nunchaku.
3.) Kesa Zuki - Thrust in a diagonal direction (up-down or down-up).
4.) Yoko Zuki - Thrust in a sideways direction.
5.) Naga Zuki - Holding both ends in one hand, flick your wrist to
throw the bottom end of
one side of the nunchaku at the target.
6.) Furi Zuki - From Kihon no kamae position, flip the back end of the nunchaku at the target.
